Precious

So i watched the movie precious and i wasnt all that impressed. I mean dont get me wrong it was a good movie but it didnt live up to what everybody hyped it up to be. The movie is basically about a teenage girl by the name of Clarise Precious Jones who lived in Harlem, New York. In the movie everything seemed like it never went her way.

Besides the fact that she constantly got talked about because of her weight for starters she got kicked out of school for being pregnant with her second baby. The babies father was also her father because he raped her twice. Her mom hates her because of that, she feels like she took him away from her so now her mom treats her like #$&@. She hits her, calls her out of her name, says she will never become anything, and the list just goes on and on. Precious ends up going to the alternate school where she actually meets friends, and iguess thats the only good thing out of her life. But then her mother fights her so she moves her and her baby out of the house. Then a little later in the movie she finds out shes HIV positive. So i guess you can say this girls life is a tragedy.

As far as the actual filming goes it kind of seemed mediocre. In some scenes the camera was kinda shaky, and some of the camera angles didnt really fit some of the scenes. But the one thing that i noticed that was good about the filming was the law of thirds. But it was an overall descent movie but i most likely wont watch it again

Movie Critique: Inglorious Bastards

The movie i watched was Inglorious Bastards, and I loved all most every minute of it. There are basically 2 storylines that join together towards the middle, but the entire movie is based around the time of WWII. One storyline is about a jewish girl that was in hiding from the Nazi's. Her family got caught and was massacred, but she was the only one to get away. As time went by she inherited a movie theaterfrom a family member and in the middle of the movie she met a nazi soldier that really liked her and invited her to a "nazi" event which then led her back to the nazi general who was responsible for her families death.

The other storyline is the main part of the movie..... There was this american group/society that went by the name of"The Bastards," hence the name of the movie (inglorious Basterds). And in the words of Brad Pitt's character, Lt. Aldo Raine, "We're interested in one thang and that's one thang only, and thats killin nAzi's." And they struck fear in the Nazi's eyes by catching them, scalping them (cutting the scalps off their heads),then killing them, and they were all good at what they did.

Now what made these 2 storylines link was that the Nazi's ended up having a screening of a new nazi movie at the jewish girls theater and she hated the nazi's for what they did to her family.. So she teamed up with the bastards and basically killed all the nazis in her theater, including Hitler.

Overally I really liked this movie, mainly because it had a little bit of everything; Action from all the killing, humor from the Lt. Aldo Raine and the bastards, and drama braided into the entire movie. I would not label this movie as a family movie because of all the bold content such as the, language, brief nudity, violence, and vivid killing. But on the other hand, if you're into movies like that then................GO SEEE IT!

I WATCHED FOREST GUMP

I ended up watching Forest Gump, and it seemed like I found more interesting things in the movie now that i analyzed it instead of just watching it for entertainment. The movie is about a man named Forrest Gump that is basically telling people at the bus stop about his life and all the events that happened in between. He tells his entire life from when he was just a boy up until him sitting on the bench waiting on the bus. What made the movie so great and interesting was the events that happened like: him become a ping pong champ by accident, the people that he met in war, his mother, and most importantly the love of his life Jenny.
In my opinion I think the characters in this movie were well put. Tom Hanks was the right actor for the leading role as Forrest Gump. The personality of the character fit him well, and that made the whole movie seem more believable and natural. Another thing I liked about Tom Hanks is that he stayed in character throughout the entire movie, in other movies I have seen, actors sometimes lose touch with the character they're playing and by the end of the movie the audience believes that person to be a whole different character.
The relationships between the main characters was also believable, it seemed as though they really knew each other well. Forrest and Jenny's relationship as "distant lovers" gave the movie a romantic feel to it. The Forest and Bubba relationship was oook. The only thing I didn't like about that was Bubba's character, I don't think it was acted out to its full potential.
In my eyes, I think a piece of dialogue that stood out to me was "Run Forest Ruuun!," said by Jenny. Simply because throughout the entire movie, all Forest did was ran: in Vietnam, when he ran for like a month straight, and even when he was at all of those important events in the movie, it symbolized him running. Ever since Jenny had told him those words at the beginning of the movie, it was like he broke free. The only time i can say he wasn't "running" was when he was with Jenny. Another quote that I feel has even more importance is "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get," said by Forrest. That dialogue shows symbolism also. It shows symbolism because in the movie, everything that happened to Forrest was unexpected, he never knew what he would get. He didn't think he would become a ping pong champion, run across the country, have his bestfriend die in the war, get a medal of honor, have his fiance die, his mother die, and on top of all that become a millionaire from shrimp. You can say life is like a box a chocolate.
Overall I enjoyed this movie a lot. What I liked most about this movie, and what set it differently then other movies was the versatility found in the movie, you had a little bit of everything. It had its little action sequence, it had a little bit of romance braided into it, certain characters added humor like forest and bubba, and most of all it had drama. And what impressed me the most was the fact that all of those elements worked well together, sometimes when you put all those things together they don't work, but in this movie they did. That's why it won so many oscars....
